Load In

Please use our side door entrance to load your equipment into our club. This entrance is located in front of Ryles between our building and the City Girl Café building.  This entrance will be locked at 9pm sharp.

Line Check

Line check is a ˝ hour before start time

Attire

Proper Dress is required. No jeans or sneakers. This is a first class establishment and about 75% of the jazz club patrons come semi-dressed up.

Sound Check

There are some bands that need the option for a full sound check by coming in before the club opens.  If this is the case for your band, please contact a Ryles manager two weeks before your performance date.  We will do our best to accommodate you.  The Ryles phone number is: (617) 876-9330.   

Guest List

Please submit your guest list upon arrival.  One guest per band member is allowed with a maximum of 5 guests per band.

Band Discounts

We have a performance menu for the band.  This menu offers food and beverages that have been marked down by a 50% discount.  The discount is for band members only, not for their guests.  Please submit your band food order entirely to the bartender before your first set.  All band food orders must be on one check and no additions to the order may be made after submitted.  Band may eat before the first set or at the first set break.  Alcohol discounts are limited to two drinks per band member.   Under no circumstances are alcoholic beverages
allowed on the bandstand.

Set Times

Set times are as follows:
Shows at 9 PM:
9 PM -10:00 PM, 10:20 PM-11:20 PM, 11:40 PM-12:40 AM.
Shows at 8:30 PM:
8:30 PM - 9:30 PM, 9:50 PM - 10:50 PM, 11:10 PM - 12:20 AM

In some cases, the club manager may ask you to deviate slightly from the above times.  

Publicity

Ryles Jazz Club expects the artists to do their part in helping to promote their event. Some helpful tips:
1) Advertising. Please make sure to make flyers to post all around town, including the colleges. Please follow rules for public posting.
2) Mailing list. Send out your mailing at least two weeks before the date of the performance. On the postcards and flyers make sure to include the following: - Ryles Jazz Club, 212 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, MA- Include the show time - Include for tickets and information call Ryles (617) 876-9330 or visit www.rylesjazz.com (note: please follow all local posting ordinances at all times)
3) Radio. We will assist you in setting up radio interviews at local stations.
4) Utilize Resources. Two weeks before and the night before go through your personal address book and call friends and family.
5) Band Members. Set a goal with each band member, making them commit to having 3 to 5 people show up to the performance.
6) Audience Communication. At your concert, we request that you encourage patrons to sign-up on the Ryles Jazz Club Mailing List as well as to take home a flyer. This will help your future performances.
7) Newspaper. Perhaps your local newspaper would be interested in your performances prior to the date.
